Deer Hunting

While we can't control the weather, there is no question there are good numbers of big bucks in the Jackman Moose River Region this year. If you are up for the challenge of hunting Maine's big woods, this could be the year you score on the trophy of a lifetime.

Moose Hunting

Bishop's Store is the Game Check Station in Jackman. We have ample parking for those wishing to view moose coming in for tagging.

82 moose were tagged in 2008. The heaviest bull, taken by Philip Smith, of Charlottesville, VA wieghed 910 pounds and had a 45" spread with 9 points. Sara Paradise, of Jackman, ME took a bull that wieghed 808 pounds, but sported a 61 1/2" rack with 13 points. Opening day, Oct. 8, saw 24 moose tagged, on Tuesday hunters brought in 20 moose, Wednesday we tagged 17, Thursday 8 moose were bagged, Friday saw slightly more activity with 10 moose brought in and on the final day of the hunt, hunter's bagged 5 bulls.
